چکیده

We present a method to ascertain optimal parameter values in the presence of a known measurement error distribution. This method is known as simulation extrapolation (SIMEX). Say X is an input variable with no error and Y is the response variable. Consider instead of X our input variable is W where, W= X+ N(0, σ). The calibrated parameter with W as input is called the naïve parameter estimate. At the start of this method we generate a series of alternate realisations for W (denoted W*) by artificially adding white noise to W in increasing multiples of the error variance σ. Given the new estimate of the parameter (using realisations W*), it now becomes possible to speculate on what the parameter would be were it to have no additive noise (or an error variance of 0). The trend in altered parameter values provides a basis to extrapolate the parameters to a situation where no error exists.

Using different hydrological variables to assess the impacts of atmospheric forcing errors on optimization and uncertainty analysis of the CHASM surface model at a cold catchment

[1] Estimation of parameters for land-surface models, along with their corresponding uncertainties, relies on the input data for the atmospheric forcing variables including atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity, wind speed, precipitation, and incoming shortwave and longwave radiation. Most studies assume that forcing data are accurate and contain no random or systematic observational erro...

به‌کارگیری متغیرهای پنهان در مدل رگرسیون لجستیک برای حذف اثر هم‌خطی چندگانه در تحلیل برخی عوامل مرتبط با سرطان پستان

Background and Objectives: Logistic regression is one of the most widely used generalized linear models for analysis of the relationships between one or more explanatory variables and a categorical response. Strong correlations among explanatory variables (multicollinearity) reduce the efficiency of model to a considerable degree. In this study we used latent variables to reduce the effects of ...

Economical Design of Double Variables Acceptance Sampling With Inspection Errors

The paper presents an economical model for double variable acceptance sampling with inspection errors. Taguchi cost function is used as acceptance cost while quality specification functions are normal with known variance. An optimization model is developed for double variables acceptance sampling scheme at the presence of inspection errors with either constant or monotone value functions. The m...

حل معادلات برآوردکننده مدل‌های رگرسیون با اندازه خطای تصادفی روی متغیر مستقل به روش بهینه سازی

Measurements of some variables in statistical analysis are often encountered with random errors. Therefore, investigating of the effects of these errors seems to be important. This event in regression analysis seems to be more necessary. Because the aim of the fitting a regression model is estimating the effect of an independent variable on a response variable. Then measurements of an independe...

The Effect of Error in Gridded Digital Elevation Models on Topographic Analysis and on the Distributed Hydrological Model TOPMODEL

Digital elevation models (dems) provide the basic information required to characterise the topographic attributes of terrain. The primary derived topographic parameters associated with DEMs are slope and aspect. Slope and aspect can be used to calculate other significant topographic parameters such as upslope area and topographic index. The topographic index, in turn, can be used by distributed...

Evaluation of Climate Change Impacts on Hydrological Characteristics of Watershed (Case study: Aji- Chai Watershed)

Studying climate change impact on hydrological variables such as runoff has attracted more attention over recent years mainly due to the imposed imbalance in climate system by greenhouse gas emission. Hence, initially in this research, the trend and abrupt changes of hydro – climatic variables were studied using data mining approaches in 18 stations over 40 years (1972-2011) in Aji-Chai waters...
